Group 1 Glory and Listed success for Tattersalls Ascot & Cheltenham graduates

On what was a fabulous weekend of racing headlined by Champions day at Ascot, Sands Of Mali a graduate of the 2017 Tattersalls Ascot Breeze Up Sale recorded a breath-taking victory in the Group 1 Qipco British Champions Sprint for trainer Richard Fahey and the Cool Silk Partnership.

The fast improving son of Panis who also won the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes last year as a two-year-old ran his rivals into the ground by making all in the hands of Paul Hanagan and marked himself down as a potentially outstanding sprinter for next year.

He was purchased by Matt Coleman on behalf of the Cool Silk Partnership from Con Marnane’s Bansha House Stables at the 2017 Ascot Breeze Up Sale for £75,000.

The 2019 Ascot Breeze Up Sale is scheduled to take place on 2nd / 3rd April and will include the new £100,000 bonus for any horse that goes on to win at Royal Ascot in the same year.

At Kempton on Sunday Verdana Blue trained by Nicky Henderson ran out the most impressive seven length winner of the Listed 2m Hurdle for owners Crimbourne Stud under Nico de Boinville.

The classy daughter of Getaway who also won on the flat last month at Chelmsford was purchased by Highflyer Bloodstock from Edmond Kent at the 2016 Cheltenham November Sale for £65,000.
