Positive Start at the Tattersalls Ireland’s inaugural Ascot Sale

The sale started on a positive note with rises in the key indicators and a top price of £34,000. The sale produced an aggregate of £234,100 (+49%), median of £1,400 and an average of £4,335 (+44%). The clearance rate mirrored that of 2014 at 62%.

Top price of the sale was the Darley offered Lot 42, Counterpoise, a three-year-old filly closely related to black type performer EXPANSION. Alastair Crow was the successful bidder and had to go to £34,000 to secure the potential broodmare.

The Darley Consignment also offered second top lot in Zamzama (Lot 44), a full sister to Listed winner MODEYRA and was sold to Stuart Williams for £28,000.

Donnchadh Doyle, whose four-year-old Jovial Joey (Lot 82) was second at Castletown Geoghegan recently, offered the St Jovite gelding under his Monbeg Stables banner. The gelding was bought by Maurice Barnes for £18,000.

The next Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Sale in the diary is Monday December 7th, 2015. The catalogue for the sale will be available online in the coming weeks.
