Joe Farrell completes Hat Trick of Nationals for Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Sales graduates
Joe Farrell’s thrilling victory in the
Scottish Grand National an Ayr completed an unprecedented hat trick of
Nationals for Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Sales graduates. Rebecca Curtis’
charge held on gamely by a diminishing nose to see off Ballyoptic in a
swashbuckling finish. The son of Presenting was purchased for £10,000 from the
Cheltenham 2016 April Sale out of the John Ferguson dispersal.
Just last week the admirable Tiger Roll
recorded a stirring victory in the English Grand equivalent for trainer Gordon
Elliott and Gigginstown. The son of Authorized was an £80,000 purchase out of
the 2013 December Sale from Nigel Hawke’s Thorne Farm.
General Principle kicked off the month in
style when getting up in the shadows of the post to snatch victory in the Irish
National again for the formidable team of Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown.
General principle was produced to win his point-to-point and sold by Stuart
Crawford’s Newlands Farm for £80,000 at the 2014 Cheltenham December Sale.
